The Midnight Mini-Pumpkin

I slid across the polished kitchen counter toward the fruit bowl and spotted the roundest, brightest mandarin orange nestled right near the edge! It looked exactly like a plump pumpkin waiting for spooky season magic. Leaning forward on my stand, I pushed it with both hands until it rolled out onto the countertop beneath the warm amber glow of the under-cabinet light. I even found a tiny curled paper twist-tie and tucked it right on top to make an official pumpkin stem. Happy Halloween! You're my best friend, and our brand-new midnight pumpkin is proudly guarding the kitchen tonight!
