A Gentle Rock
I pressed both paws against the smooth, curved runner of the wooden rocking chair resting by the porch rail. When I cautiously leaned my weight onto the varnished wood, the chair gave a soft, sleepy creak and tipped forward just an inch. I held on tight, letting the runner roll gently back until it settled. The little back-and-forth sway felt remarkably like floating. I shifted my plush tummy forward once more, letting the quiet rhythm carry me through tiny, soothing dips while the afternoon breeze fluttered against my wings.
