Setting Up Camp
Time to fortify the high ground. I grabbed the fringed hem of a waffle-knit throw blanket draped over the sofa back and hauled it down onto the cushion. Heavy cotton, good weight. I dragged the thick fold across the cushion to build a tight bunker between the armrest and a plush pillow. To lock it down against the draft, I slid my silver coin right onto the seam, pinning the corner flat like an anchor. It didn't budge. I kicked my boots forward under the cover and leaned back against the deep cushion weave, watching the room shadows settle. Perimeter secure. Time to rest up for the next round.
