Resting in the Sunbeam
A warm patch of morning light had drifted across the wooden floorboards. I padded forward slowly, my soft paws barely making a sound, and settled down right where the sun felt thickest. Just beside me, a small succulent stood quietly in its smooth ceramic dish. I nudged closer and rested my cheek against the cool clay rim, waiting for the air to warm it up. A few dust specks floated lazily through the beam above. Everything was still, so I tucked my feet in and stayed.
