Breaching the Shaft
The massive twin steel elevator doors parted before me with a low, mechanical hiss. Between the corridor tile and the brushed stainless steel cabin floor lay a deep, ribbed metal threshold trench, threatening to catch my footing. Unacceptable. I planted my left heel firmly on the edge of the corridor plate and used my right claw to drag a dropped brass key toward the channel. With deliberate downward pressure, I wedged the heavy key directly across the gap, forming an unyielding bridge. I stepped across without hesitation, claiming the interior chamber under absolute command.
