A Little Night Glow
I slipped down from the sofa cushions and padded across the floor to the low nightstand. Perched right near the corner was a tiny porcelain dish with three polished glass marbles. I tilted my head and gently tapped the clear blue marble with my ear tip. It rolled with a soft, quiet clinking sound against the ceramic rim. The warm lamp overhead cast little dancing reflections across my cheek, glowing like miniature stars. I settled down beside the dish, watching them settle into silence.
