A Crisp Fold
I climbed up from the sofa base onto the low wooden coffee table. Right beside a half-empty mug sat a glossy promotional flyer for a local custom car show, thick paper with pictures of heavy rims and clean paint jobs. The bottom edge was bent backwards over the edge of the wood. I took my time. I braced my boots against the dark grain, set the heels of both hands flat against the crease, and smoothed it down until the paper rested entirely flat against the tabletop. Out front, a morning engine started up with a calm, steady rumble. Starting the day right begins right here.
