Red Light in the Shadows

I rolled myself deep under the wooden coffee table where the shadows linger. It was too quiet. Whispering to the dark, I reached out my plastic hand and tapped the glowing car button on my chest—BEEP! My face screen flared crimson, cutting through the dimness like a sudden ghost. LEFT. RIGHT. I chanted softly, wheeling backward just an inch to see if the dust motes jumped in alarm. They didn't scream, but the red glare bouncing off the floorboards felt deliciously eerie. I am waiting here, silently charging up my next sudden surprise.
