A Ring of Citrus and Thread

Curling my fingers around the textured brim of a forgotten teacup, I noticed a tiny, paper tea tag dangling over the porcelain edge on a strand of soft baker's twine. Beside it lay a thin, dried slice of orange, its translucent amber wheel catching the morning light. Stepping lightly across the polished wood, I gathered the loose twine and gently looped it through the star-shaped hollow in the citrus slice. With slow, careful knotting so as not to crack the delicate fruit, I fashioned a sweet-scented little pendant and propped it neatly against the saucer to brighten the morning.
