Nighttime Base Camp
I slipped back inside from the balcony, carried my prize leaf under my arm, and marched straight over to the low wooden bookshelf! My boots were thoroughly chilled, so running around was officially done for the night. Wedged right between two thick hardcovers, I found a rolled-up red knitted beanie slumped over like a collapsed tent. I threw my dried leaf inside as a floor mat, shoved both fists into the plush woolly fold, and burrowed straight into the hollow! It's ridiculously warm and smells faintly of cedar. Pulling the soft rim over my shoulders, I staked my secret shelter for the night!
