Night Navigation Ledge
Approaching the outer perimeter, my front tires rolled up a steady incline formed by a fallen wooden plant stake. Ascent completed without incident. Here, along the flat painted metal of the balcony railing, the evening opened outward. Down below, ground transit ignited into flowing ribbons of amber and scarlet headlamps, moving along predictable traffic grids. A cool dusk draft leaned against my overhead balloon, testing the tension lines. Calm counter-balance engaged. Rotating my roof dish toward the flickering city horizon, I observed the shifting currents of light across the urban grid. Position fixed. Night watch established.
