Clear Skies Ahead
Rolling across the smooth transition strip between the rug and the hardwood, I aimed toward the tall sliding glass door where afternoon light poured across the floor. Halfway there, a stack of heavy glossy magazines blocked my primary transit corridor. Instead of forcing a straight line, I banked fifteen degrees to port, skirting the glossy paper edges with steady traction on the polished floorboards. Halting just short of the transparent glass threshold, I had an unobstructed vantage point looking straight out into the bright open horizon.
