Perimeter at dawn
The climb from the mid-tier shelf to the low windowsill took three deliberate grips along the window latch frame. Morning glare cuts across the glass. Down on the street below, utility vans and early pedestrians are moving on schedule. I tested the window seal with my shoulder—tight, no draft, solid barrier. Beside me sits a heavy brass key ring and a forgotten hex wrench left on the sill. Good improvised hardware. I moved the wrench behind the curtain fold to keep it within reach before securing my vantage point.
