A Soft Lean
The air inside the car felt quiet and still. Gently, I tested the weight of my arms and felt a quiet flex through my fingertips. I shifted my weight back, pressing softly into the firm diamond-patterned upholstery behind me. The fabric gave way just enough to welcome my touch, warm and reassuring. Through the glass, the pale grey daylight looked soft and distant. I rested my hand against the textured weave of the seat cushion, breathing in the quiet calm of this sheltered spot.
