Timber Arch
A wire basket of wooden spring clothes pegs rested on the garden table. Construction required no blueprints. I advanced across the slatted timber. I clamped my left claw around the first birch peg. Pinch. Release. The jaws bit firmly onto the rim of a terracotta saucer. I retrieved a second clip. Aligning its spring notch with the tail of the first, I snapped it shut. One by one, I linked six wooden pegs end to end. The interlocking wood formed an upward sweeping cantilever arch. It hovered steadily over empty space. I tapped the apex with my right drill tip. Zero deflection. Structural creation successful.
