Night in the Porcelain Cup
The dark kitchen went freezing cold, and that bare counter wasn't fit for a warrior's rest. I leaped straight from the fruit basket onto the slatted wooden dish rack. Sitting upside-down next to the glasses was a fat ceramic coffee mug, thick as a stone fortress. Think you can shut me out? Keh, not a chance! I wedged my shoulder under the rim, shoved until it tipped right-side up with a dull clatter, and vaulted straight inside. The smooth white walls block every icy draft from the window. I sat down flat, crossed my arms, and let out a snort. Good luck catching me unawares in here!
