A World in Motion
I planted both boots firmly on the polished desk and gave the brass-ringed globe a hearty push with both hands. The sphere spun in a quiet, hypnotic whir under the desk lamp's warm beam, turning ocean blues and mountain browns into a swirling blur of color. As the spin slowed down, I reached out and gently pressed my palm against the smooth equator to bring it to a halt. Right beneath my fingers lay a tiny chain of islands scattered across the Pacific. Seeing how enormous and full of uncharted corners the world really is makes me want to venture far beyond our front porch someday.
