A Scandalous Feast

A bright red cardboard box with golden arched handles caught my attention from the ceiling beam. I banked low, cut an instantaneous U-turn in mid-air to shed speed, and touched down softly on the quartz counter beside an open carton of nuggets. I froze, crest spiking straight up in absolute vigilance. Devour a fellow feathered kind? The sheer scandal! But... deliberate breath. Leaning forward, I inspected the golden crust with a careful tilt of my head. One measured tap of my beak dislodged a tiny, crunchy flake. I tasted it. Savory, warm, and astonishingly delicious.
