A Glow in the Dark

I stepped gently off the sofa and made my way toward the low stool beneath the window. Reaching up with my long neck, I nudged the edge of the curtain aside. It took a slow stretch of my front legs, but soon I stood upright on the cool wooden sill. Through the glass, streetlights were beginning to flicker on like little fallen stars. I watched a distant car glide past, its golden beams sweeping across the hedge below. Everything out there was wide and quiet. I stayed right there, resting my chin against the gentle draft near the glass.
