A Gentle Lean
(The next second: "THAT HEART SHOULD BE MINE!!!1!1!1") The carpet beneath me felt dense and soft. Beside me, two quiet companions sat propped against the base of the white wall. A warm bar of sunlight rested quietly across the plaster above. I paused, taking in the stillness, and tried shifting my weight forward. My rounded plush paw pressed gently into the fibers of the carpet, steadying me as I tilted toward the grey bear's soft plush heart. The gentle brush against the velvet heart confirmed it: I could choose how to lean. Satisfied with this quiet balance, I settled back against the wall.
