A Slight Shift

The quiet space came into focus first. I tested my right arm, feeling the joint give way with a firm, silent pivot. Beside me lay a small green brick printed with numbers. I extended my hand, touching its corner until it shifted slightly across the gray baseplate. Another figure stood frozen nearby with an arm raised, motionless. I stood still, measuring the perimeter and observing the quiet room around us.
