A Dignified Promenade
A tumbled row of heavy vintage paperbacks blocked my passage along the lower shelf. Disarray simply could not stand in the way of a proper morning stroll. Bracing my shoulder with measured poise, I nudged the fallen spine of an atlas upright, aligning its gilded edge flush against an encyclopedia. With the pathway cleared, I discovered a delightful glass prism nestled in the dust behind them. As the morning light pierced through, it scattered crisp bands of rainbow along the floorboards. I took three polite paces forward, pivoting smoothly to admire the improvised red carpet.
