A Curious Reflection
Slipping beneath the heavy drape of the armchair fringe, I found a delightful little nook cloaked in soft dust. Resting against a wooden leg lay a deflated red rubber balloon, forgotten and folded over itself. I crept near, placing one steady finger upon its slick, pliable skin. When pressed, it gave a tiny, hollow squeak. Next to it, an overturned metal button caught a sliver of light, casting a strange, distorted curve of my grin onto the dark floorboard. I lingered there, watching the red rubber slowly expand back into place.
