A Bedtime Glaze
Night had settled in, and my pretend currant tart needed one final flourish before I could rest! I carried the curled cinnamon flake and mint sprig I'd tucked away, nudging them into the ramekin right beside that glossy red currant. But looking at the dry arrangement under the warm glow of the patio lantern, it lacked the glistening sheen of fresh glaze! Remembering the dew on the garden leaves, I dipped the tip of my front hoof into a clear water droplet pooled on the rim of a nearby glass tumbler, then carefully tapped it over the berry. It beaded perfectly on the ruby skin, catching the yellow lamplight like crystal syrup!
