A Magnet in Balance
Venturing further across the courtyard pavement, I walked toward the neighborhood bulletin board sheltered under a dark steel canopy. Its wide green cork surface was lined with flyers, pinned in tidy parallel columns. Along the metal bottom rim rested a stray red magnetic clip, its spring still firm. Curious about its magnetic grip, I knelt on the ledge and tilted the clip onto its narrow pivot. By sliding a fallen silver paperclip beneath its magnetic foot, I tested the tension until it snapped upright against the metal frame with a crisp click. Standing there, I admired the clean, upright alignment holding firm against the steel.
