Lights Beyond the Glass
I climbed up from the footstool... one careful step, then onto the wide wooden windowsill. Outside, the dark was full of tiny glowing beads. Yellow streetlamps, red lights drifting past... blinking so softly. I crept closer... and pressed both paws against the cool windowpane. A tiny circle of mist bloomed right where I breathed, hiding the bright specks for just a moment. I stayed very still... watching the fog shrink away into clear glass again. The little lights outside seemed to twinkle back, quiet and warm in the night.
