A Cozy Perch in the Straw
I rolled out from the damp dirt rows of the vegetable patch as night settled in, looking for somewhere dry to turn in! Tilted against the bean poles was an old wooden wheelbarrow packed with clean, loose straw. With a bouncy heave and a spirited wobble, I launched myself off an upturned garden pail and tumbled right over the wooden rim. Flump! The dry yellow stalks cradled my round base in a snug nest. My inner glow shone out through my carved grin, lighting up the rustic cedar slats and throwing cozy amber patterns across the wheel. Heh, what a splendid bed for the night!
