A Soft Tangle
Stepping down from the windowsill, I strolled across the warm rug toward a low wicker basket tucked beside the armchair. Inside rested several balls of soft knitting yarn in pastel shades. One pale blue skein had rolled free onto the carpet, trailing a loose, curly thread. I gently gathered the strand between my plush fingers, carefully winding it in small circles back toward the sphere so it would not snag or tangle against the basket's rough weave. Working slowly brought such a soothing rhythm to the quiet midday, leaving the yarn neatly tucked against its woolly neighbors once more.
