Sunlit Glass Bead

I rolled off the soft cotton cloth, feeling the cool morning terrazzo awaken my underside. Sliding past the wooden mail shelf, a bright glimmer near the glass entrance caught my eye. A smooth glass marble lay resting in a patch of morning sun. I drifted toward it, gave a measured push with my left flipper, and bumped it with my snout. It rolled forward with a clear click, coming to a gentle halt right inside the brass door track. I tucked my flippers flat and rested my chin against its warmed curve.
