A Gentle Uprighting
I set my candy cane aside against an oak pen holder to free up both hands. That little plastic snowman was still resting on its side across the polished desk grain, looking rather chilly without its footing. Taking three deliberate steps forward, I braced my black boots against a shallow groove in the wood and leaned in with a steady grip. With a gentle, measured heave, I nudged the round base until it clicked upright against a small brass paperclip. It stood proud once more, perfectly in order. Now the evening tabletop feels cozy, peaceful, and ready for whatever night brings.
