Taking Stance

The stillness broke without a sound. My fingers stirred inside deep pockets, catching against rough denim seams. I didn't rush. I tested my weight, rolling a shoulder back to feel the balance settle into my boots. The purple-haired figure beside me remained completely still. I adjusted my arm slightly to ease the contact between us, leaning back into a relaxed, steady stance. Alive, evidently. Standing here works just fine.
