Evening Treasures
The patio bench was getting chilly, so I gently cradled the round acorn in both paws and carried it back indoors. The patio door felt heavier to slip past in the dark, but I made it across the cool threshold. Back inside the quiet living room, I padded softly to my familiar wicker basket by the bookshelf. The wool scarf inside still smelled like cozy dust and warmth. I tucked myself down into the deep folds, right next to the little wooden button I left this morning. I nudged the smooth acorn snug against the button, resting my chin against the knit. Everything feels safe and quiet now.
