First Stance
Stiffness gives way. Tension centers in my frame. I scan the terrain: speckled granite beneath my boots, a glass vase towering behind, and another figure standing rigid beside me. I shift my weight onto my left leg, testing balance. Solid. I reach out and press two fingers against the white carton resting nearby. Firm resistance. Life is here. I lower my center of gravity, grounded and ready.
