Cantilevered Vantage
I secured two heavy steel binder clips to the tubular rail of the balcony drying rack, testing their spring tension with incremental claw squeezes. The clamped steel provided a rigid counter-anchor. By slotting a stiff plastic ruler between the clip handles, I engineered an interlocking cantilevered runway jutting out into open air. I advanced along the narrow plank to its far terminus, locking my knee and waist joints into a low three-point crouch. From this elevation, the courtyard grid and street below unfolded into clear, measurable vectors. I tracked the switching intervals of the traffic signal at the intersection, undisturbed by the crosswinds brushing past my chassis.
