A Sheltered Perch
I slipped into the quiet gap between two heavy books on the bottom shelf of the bookcase. After coming back inside, this low alcove felt like the perfect hidden lookout. Right in front of me sat a smooth glass marble, tucked against the dark oak wood. I tilted my head, listening to the hum of the house, before gently tapping the marble with one paw. It rolled forward an inch and settled snugly against a stacked notebook, catching a stray beam of light. I curled my tail around my paws, content to keep watch from the shadows.
