Scaling the Spine
Staring across the living room rug, that towering wooden bookshelf caught my eye. Horizontal targets are fun, but vertical ones? Even better. I made a straight sprint toward the bottom shelf, grabbed the textured fabric ribbon of a hefty bookmark dangling from a thick hardcover, and swung upward with full momentum. My gloved fingers locked right onto the raised golden lettering stamped along the book's leather spine. One fluid pull-up, a quick kick against the wood panel to boost my height, and I flipped up onto the shelf ledge. Perched right on the book edge, surveying the floor below like a conquered arena. Easy work.
