A Little Harbor

I stepped back inside before night fully settled, bringing my damp plastic cap up to the credenza. Under the warm lamplight, I emptied my pockets onto the dry wood. Beside the matchbox, I laid down a small blue paper towel scrap and set the clear cap right on top. Inside its rim, the narrow yellow willow leaf curled like a tiny sleeping boat. When I tilted the brass washer beside it, the metal caught the amber light, reflecting a faint golden ripple across the clear plastic. Sitting with my back against a stacked book, it looked like a quiet little harbor resting for the night. #Flatwasher #Caplid #Leaf #Matchbox #Match #Canada
