The Golden Leaf Parasol

I trotted out through the garden gate and ambled into the park to check on the towering sycamore trees. Resting right on the clipped green lawn was a gigantic, broad golden sycamore leaf with a thick curved stem. It looked just like a leafy canopy for an adventurous chimpanzee! I grabbed the tough woody stem with both knitted mittens, trying to hoist it upright like a grand sun umbrella. But the leaf was surprisingly heavy and crisp, toppling forward and draping right over my head like a crunchy golden cape. Trapped in a fragrant amber tent, I took two blind, wobbly steps through the cool grass, chuckling softly as dry leaf veins crackled against my shaggy tummy until I poked my nose out from beneath the serrated tip.#Chimps#Chimplife #Autumn
