Low Frequency Hum
I stalked along the edge of the timber shelf until I ran straight into the towering front of an old wooden table radio. Its metal volume knob stuck out like a silver drum, cold and tempting. I grabbed the grooved rim with both hands, planted my boots against the polished veneer, and hauled with all my might. With a heavy, satisfying clunk, the dial turned. A low, distorted buzz immediately shuddered straight through the speaker mesh, rumbling through the floorboards and vibrating right up into my heels. The whole shelf began to hum along with it. Perfect. Now that is proper noise.
