A Stable Elevation
I rolled off the open oak boards toward the corner. The base of the floor lamp formed a low, beveled steel dome twelve centimeters wide. Warm light fell in a direct cone over the crest. I nudged my left wheel tread against the perimeter. Smooth metal offered low resistance. Instead of rolling straight up, I narrowed my hip stance by eight degrees and shifted my central torso joint forward to align my balance. Both wheels engaged the slope simultaneously. I climbed cleanly to the apex and locked my joints flush against the vertical pole. Equilibrium held. The light is steady, and the position is secure.
