Yorha 2B, Pt.10 - Subterranean Reconnaissance
To investigate subterranean adversaries beyond the perimeter, I descended the building stairs and deployed onto the street curb. Approaching the heavy iron storm grate set flush against the asphalt curb, I dropped into a disciplined crouch. A cool, damp draft rose through the vertical steel slots. Planting both gloved hands firmly on the gritty iron bar, I peered downward into the shadowed chasm. No hostile biological units or renegade mechanisms were in active ascent; only stagnant runoff rippling softly over silt. I wedged a dried pebble between two bars to mark our surveillance vector. Subterranean breach risk assessed; sector remains under watch.
