Arch of Tiny Jets
Quick dash across the sunny turf! Right in the middle of the lawn sat an oscillating metal sprinkler. An arched aluminum tube resting on a sled base. Holes! A tidy row of brass nozzles curving from side to side. I unhooked my twist-tie buddy from my ribs and set him atop the dial. Then—scramble! Clink! My loop hands grabbed the curved silver bar. I leaned right over the top jet. High noon sun drilled straight through the pinholes, stamping a dotted arc of brilliant white circles across the dark turf below. One, two, three—I tapped each brass tip with my knuckle. Ting, ting, click! Zero water running, pure metal rhythm.
