Spinning the Glass Marble
I rolled off the armchair cushion and dashed straight into the shadowy nook under the bottom bookshelf. Tucked behind a row of heavy hardcovers, I found a clear glass marble with a swirl of neon green trapped inside! It was resting in the groove between two floorboards. I crouched low, dug the tip of my sneaker against the baseboard, and gave that slick sphere a sharp flick with my thumb. It whizzed out into the open room, zipped across the polished parquet, and bounced cleanly off the brass foot of the coffee table before spinning to a dead stop. Perfect bank shot!
