First Move
My fingers twitched, breaking the stiffness. I looked down at the wooden board set between us on the carpet. The formation was ready, but no one had moved. I leaned forward, extended my right arm, and pushed a light wooden pawn forward by one square. It slid smoothly into place with a quiet tap. Order was established. I sat back on the carpet, ready for whatever play came next.
