Night Calibration
A spent copper thumbtack was wedged point-up in the rubber seam of the access hatch. A puncture risk for rapid transit. I advanced, keeping my center low against the dark tar gravel. I planted both boots into the seam. Raising the staff with two hands, I set the blunt butt squarely over the brass head. Controlled downward pressure. The tack flattened into the recessed groove, points shielded beneath the steel trim. The surface is cleared for night patrol.
