A Pocket of Evening Warmth
I waddled toward the entryway where a knit wool scarf had tumbled softly from the low coat rack. It lay curled on the wooden floor like an inviting little cave. Taking slow, tiny steps, I nudged my plush body deep into its plush fold. Inside, it smelled faintly of crisp night air and sweet wool. The fabric was so soft against my sides. I peeked out through the loose fringe, watching the hallway nightlight cast a steady amber glow across the floorboards. It was the coziest spot to pause and listen to the quiet house.
