Testing the Timber
A fallen wooden stake blocked my path along the ledge. Unacceptable. Hrnph! I squared my hips, leaned forward, and stomped a heavy talon straight onto its midpoint. Crack! It held fast under my weight, rolling slightly into the damp potting soil. I planted both feet firmly across the timber and threw my head back, letting out a resonant rumble. The perch belongs to me now.
