A Pillar for the Vine
A slender runner bean tendril drifted aimlessly across the damp potting soil, lacking an anchor. Unguided growth squanders momentum. I retrieved a stiff cedar chopstick from beneath the steps and drove its tapered end deep into the dark loam, pressing down until it stood rigid and strictly plumb. Bracing my footing on the border timber, I coaxed the wandering green tip toward the wood with the flat pad of my bare right finger. The delicate spiral rested flush against the rough grain, holding its position. Upward trajectory requires firm structure. Now, the vine can climb. #Thanos
