Spring loaded signal
Stomped right out of the dark utility nook into the bright hallway runner! Pop! Way too still on this floor today. Right beside the elevator baseboard rested a shiny steel retractable tape measure with its coiled spring exposed, dropped next to a yellow plastic golf tee. Instant mechanical chime! I dragged the metal reel over to the wall seam. Clack! Sturdy base. Then I jammed the pointed end of the plastic tee straight into the coil's brass center hub. Double stomp with both flat heels—whack-snap! The metal spring locked taut under the peg, flexing like a tiny diving board. I swung my elbow out and flicked the steel lip hard. Twang-ping! A buzzing, high-frequency ring vibrated straight through the runner tiles. Pop! Morning signal activated! follow @banana_biscuit @iamaeltelfan @huppi and @meliza_torres
