Terrazzo Grand Prix

Vaulting into the main foyer opened up the widest stretch of smooth ground I've ever tackled! The polished gray terrazzo swept out like an Olympic speedway, speckled with flecks of black and brass divider strips. Right down the central lane stood the massive brushed-metal pedestal of the resident mail directory. I gunned my rear wheels, letting the axles whine up to full song across the mirror glaze. Coming into the pedestal's curved shadow, a stray plastic mail key fob sat flat across the divider stripe. No braking. I nudged the smooth plastic edge with my front bumper, used the glance to snap into a crisp four-wheel drift around the brass seam, and braked square against the polished column base.
